Absences / Make-up Work

Upon your return from an excused absence, you will have two (2) days to get your make-up work in to me. That means if you are absent from class, you should see me (or find out what you missed) the next day that you are back in school. If you do not submit your make-up work within the two-day time frame, then my LATE WORK policy will apply. Previously assigned work that was due during your absence is to be handed in on the day that you return. If you are absent on a test day, and you have not missed any review or new material for the test, you will be expected to take the test on the day you return.

REMEMBER...it is your responsibility to make up any missed work if you are absent. Make sure there is at least one person you can count on in class to give you any notes or information we discussed during class. Get their phone number/email address and give them yours. Extra copies of any handouts/worksheets will be kept in the bins that contain your Student File Folders, which are located in the front of the classroom. These extra copies will be organized in file folders by the title of the handout/worksheet.

General announcements, daily agendas and homework assignments for each of my class periods will be posted on my website, http://www.butterfield.davious.org/. I encourage you and your parents to use this site as a resource. I am currently in the process of loading files/documents under the Eras link on the main page of the website. This feature will allow you to download and view/print make-up work and assignments via the Internet.

Late Work

Homework is due at the start of the next block period unless otherwise stated by Ms. Butterfield. Otherwise, it is considered late. For every calendar day late, one letter grade will be deducted. That means if an assignment is due on Monday, and you turn it in on Tuesday, the best grade you can get is a "B". If you do not turn it in until Wednesday (your next block period), the best grade you can get is a "C" (2 letter grade deduction for 2 days late), and so on.

Agenda and Homework

The Daily Agenda and Homework is shown at the beginning of every class through PowerPoint slides. Students are expected to copy the Homework Assignment in their student planner as soon as they enter the classroom. In addition, students and parents may access my website, http://www.butterfield.davious.org/, for this information.

Grading

Your grade will be calculated on a points earned/points possible system. You will be notified of the respective point value in advance. I will be using the FCPS 100 point grading scale; however, homework, tests, quizzes and projects will vary in value. The FCPS grading scale and the weighting scale is as follows:
